Description

There are two varieties of bilberries:

  • the cultivated bilberry (Vaccinium corymbosum), originating from North America and characterized by its white flesh,
  • the wild bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), which grows in Europe and Asia. Its flesh is pink.

Originally wild, the bilberry is a small, tasty berry with a sweet and tangy flavor.

Laboratoires FENIOUX use the berry of the wild bilberry, which is rich in polyphenols—natural molecules that give it its purple/blue color—and in anthocyanins.

Anthocyanins are believed to support the vasculo-ocular system.

Bilberry helps protect the eyes, supports blood flow to the eye and contributes to retinal function.
